My Toes Might Be A Little Cold!


Despite the fall temps my flip flops are still going strong

Fall is definitely in the air.  As I said last week I am not ready to give up the flops yet.  My toes definitely felt the weather change this week, but they (and I) are so excited about what looks to be a fabulous mild fall weekend!  Make sure you get out and enjoy these beautiful days while you can!  And there is plenty listed in this weeks calendar to get you out and about and having a great time!

Fall Leaf Craft


With the leaves starting to turn colors, we were in the mood to make our own pretty leaves.  This is a craft that can easily be done by a variety of ages.   

Supplies:

Card stock or construction paper

Scissors

Glue

Tissue paper in fall colors

Unsharpened pencil

Instructions:

  • Draw the outline of a leaf or print a maple leaf on the cardstock or construction paper.
  • Cut out the leaf.

  • Cut the tissue paper into small squares.
  • Wrap tissue paper around end of pencil.

Easy Apple Muffins


A Breakfast Treat Sure To Please

We are definitely breakfast people at our house.  Sometimes we may not eat it until 9:30 or 10, so maybe that makes it brunch, but I love this apple muffin recipe.  It's easy and fast, since it uses applesauce instead of having to actually cut up apples!  Also-if you want to make it healthier you can sub in 1/2 cup of oatmeal for 1/4 cup of the flour.

Let the Babies Boogie!
It is Sunday afternoon and the kids are restless. What do you do? We know a place, the perfect location, in Old Town Arvada on Grandview Avenue called the D Note. Every Sunday the kids, from 1 month to 12 years old, come and enjoy music, both by listening to it, playing it and dancing to it. Parents relax at their tables, watching the kids dance and play together - great entertainment in and of itself. The children make new friends and greet some old ones. Some even make this a weekly gathering spot.

Saturday, October 1 - Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Nothing is more fun that getting kids outside and on bikes! The City of Lakewood and COMBA invite you & your daughter or son, niece or nephew, neighbor, friend or younger sister or brother to introduce kids to the sport of mountain biking while ensuing trail use and environmental ethics. What’s Provided: Free Breakfast and Lunch, Bike Tune Ups, and Event Grab Bags. What to bring:

This event offers a variety of activities for the entire family. From mule-drawn wagon and barrel train rides to the petting zoo, kids and adults alike will enjoy this event complete with exhibitors, live entertainment and food. Guests will find interactive activities, educational exhibits, historic demonstrations, arts and crafts and commercial exhibitors. Admission also includes tours of the Lakewood’s Heritage Center 20th Century Museum.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, what is now Lakewood and the surrounding area was home to over 40 apple orchards. The use of farmyard apple presses was common among families and communities. These same vintage presses are one of the unique hallmarks of Cider Days.
