Halloween Fun Has Begun


My kids are definitely in the Halloween spirit!  They can't wait to hit the streets for trick or treating and they are so excited to head out to some of the fabulous Halloween events going on around town, and there are a ton of them!!!  Make sure you check the calendar and the list of events below so you and your family don't miss out on any of the Halloween fun!

Meringue Ghosts


NOTE: Requires electric hand mixer (or stand mixer) and parchment paper (buy near the tin-foil in supermarket)

Yield: about 18 ghosts
Ingredients:
2 egg whites, room temperature <-- This is important

1/8 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp flavored extract (I use vanilla)
semi-sweet chocolate chips (I've also used milk chocolate)
 

Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place the room temperature egg whites in the clean bowl and use a stand mixer or hand-mixer with whisk attachment.

Materials needed:

  • Rocks
  • Leaves (I mixed some fake and real ones)
  • Heavy Duty Paper Plate
  • Orange paint and brown paint
  • Glue
  • Small wooden head dowel with stick (or a large sucker will do)
  • Kleenex
  • Black marker
  • White yarn

It is Sunday afternoon and the kids are restless. What do you do? We know a place, the perfect location, in Old Town Arvada on Grandview Avenue called the D Note. Every Sunday the kids, from 1 month to 12 years old, come and enjoy music, both by listening to it, playing it and dancing to it. Parents relax at their tables, watching the kids dance and play together - great entertainment in and of itself. The children make new friends and greet some old ones. Denver Botanic Gardens celebrates Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Día de los Muertos is a festival of “welcome" for the souls of the dead.
