Halloween Fun Has Begun

My kids are definitely in the Halloween spirit!  They can't wait to hit the streets for trick or treating and they are so excited to head out to some of the fabulous Halloween events going on around town, and there are a ton of them!!!  Make sure you check the calendar and the list of events below so you and your family don't miss out on any of the Halloween fun!

Meringue Ghosts

NOTE: Requires electric hand mixer (or stand mixer) and parchment paper (buy near the tin-foil in supermarket)

Yield: about 18 ghosts
Ingredients:
2 egg whites, room temperature <-- This is important

1/8 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp flavored extract (I use vanilla)
semi-sweet chocolate chips (I've also used milk chocolate)
 

Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place the room temperature egg whites in the clean bowl and use a stand mixer or hand-mixer with whisk attachment.

Pumpkin Patch
Materials needed:

  • Rocks
  • Leaves (I mixed some fake and real ones)
  • Heavy Duty Paper Plate
  • Orange paint and brown paint
  • Glue
  • Small wooden head dowel with stick (or a large sucker will do)
  • Kleenex
  • Black marker
  • White yarn

Experience Bear Creek Lake Park with all its ghostly magic in an evening of ghostly trails and tales. Walk along the Owl Trail and discover critters of the night. After your walk warm your toes by the fire at the amphitheater and enjoy roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate. Hawk Quest will also be at the visitor center with their live birds of prey.

Let the Babies Boogie!
It is Sunday afternoon and the kids are restless. What do you do? We know a place, the perfect location, in Old Town Arvada on Grandview Avenue called the D Note. Every Sunday the kids, from 1 month to 12 years old, come and enjoy music, both by listening to it, playing it and dancing to it. Parents relax at their tables, watching the kids dance and play together - great entertainment in and of itself. The children make new friends and greet some old ones. Some even make this a weekly gathering spot.

Join local Littleton based Spirit Paranormal Investigations for an exciting and informative presentation about ghosts and ghost hunting. SpiritPI investigators will share their ghost hunting tools and techniques as well as present real ghost stories and startling evidence, including Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and strange anomalies that the team has captured on film during paranormal investigations of historic locations throughout Colorado. Denver Botanic Gardens celebrates Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Día de los Muertos is a festival of “welcome" for the souls of the dead. This celebration will feature live entertainment, artists and dancers, including the “Mariachis San Juan de Colorado,” flamenco dances, Mexican loteria (bingo), and a storyteller. Attendees will also enjoy a “Sugar Skull” making area, an area where they can create “Papel Picado” (paper cut into elaborate designs) and more. Kids Eat FREE!!

There are a lot of places in the metro area that have Kids Eat Free (or practically free) Nights!  Here is a list of ones that we know of, and we would love to hear about any that you know to add to our list!  Always call ahead to confirm that they are still having a Kid's Eat Free Night because restaurants can change these at any time.

Also if you find out we have something wrong please let us know.
