Let me just tell you, that old Santa needs to go on a diet. Mrs. Claus has let us know that those special hard working reindeer are feeling left out. Oh sure, Santa "claims" that he shares the cookies, but the reindeer have a different story.

Now you can help! Grab a few ingredients out of the cabinet and lets show the reindeer just how much we love them too!

My 6 year old daughter made me the cutest Christmas present at school this year! This would be an easy Christmas craft to make with your kids and a wonderful keepsake for years to come. Why not make it an annual tradition?

Materials needed:

  • Christmas ball ornament (your choice of color)
  • white paint
  • colored permanent markers
  • paint brush

  1. Paint your child's hand white. You can choose to paint just the palm and the three middle fingers if you prefer.

A simple and quick way to preserve your memories

Here it is:

* Recycle your 2011 calendar by using interesting pages from throughout the year. We used a Norman Rockwell calendar that reminded me of the holiday season. 

* Glue each page to a sheet of construction paper. Repeat for at least 8 pages, so you end up with a page for each day, once cut up. 

* Use shearing scissors to cut each page into 4 equal squares. 

* Punch a hole in the top of each square.

* Put 31 pages together by tying the top with a pretty ribbon, raffeta, or ...

Let the Babies Boogie!
It is Sunday afternoon and the kids are restless. What do you do? We know a place, the perfect location, in Old Town Arvada on Grandview Avenue called the D Note. Every Sunday the kids, from 1 month to 12 years old, come and enjoy music, both by listening to it, playing it and dancing to it. Parents relax at their tables, watching the kids dance and play together - great entertainment in and of itself. The children make new friends and greet some old ones. Some even make this a weekly gathering spot.

This easy 3- mile Winter Wonderland Hike will start the Gravel Ponds and go south to the Audubon Discovery Center. Join naturalist Carolyn Bredenberg and Charlie Schmucker for a First Day Hike that will explore the park's winter landscape.

Reindeer Pancakes


Daddy got the super duper extra special award this past weekend from my kindergarten and preschooler for the best Reindeer Pancakes!!! Mommy tried to get in on the action with her own snowman, but got thrown out of the kitchen. Darn.

You will need:

  • Your typical pancake recipe. Mine: any box in the cabinet labeled pancakes; just add water.
  • M&M (he used the miniature ones)
  • chocolate chips

There are a lot of places in the metro area that have Kids Eat Free (or practically free) Nights!  Here is a list of ones that we know of, and we would love to hear about any that you know to add to our list!  Always call ahead to confirm that they are still having a Kid's Eat Free Night because restaurants can change these at any time.
