Change is in the Air!
And some new fun has come to our newsletter!
From the leaves to the temperature, change is a comin'. I am finally feeling like we are back in the swing of things. Homework is getting done, football practice is happening and the leaves are changing. I love fall! I love the change of temperatures. I love the beautiful colors. I love being able to wear a hoodie!! I love being able to pull on a sweater or a hoodie.
I really don't remember Fall being so busy, but I feel like there is never enough time to get ...
Fashion Playtes
As a mom of three boys, fashion is not a big concern in our house, at least outside of myself. But when I heard about the Fashion Playtes website it was once again a reminder of how much I always wanted a little girl to play dress up with. Below is a brief article that Joyce wrote about her families experience with fashionplaytes.com.
I'm a jeans and boots kinda gal, so where my fashionista daughter came from is really anyone's guess. But we recently discovered a site ...
Macaroni Kid Will be Sporting a Pink Ribbon
We will be honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, and cure.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there will be a small, subtle pink ribbon in the top right corner of Lakewood's Macaroni Kid’s website throughout the entire month of October. It is there to support this very important cause and to remind our readers to do self breast exams and, if ...
Macaroni Musings - Taming the Chaos
It Is Time to Get Back on Track
Summer vacation is definitely over! Now that I have finally "recovered" I should be ready to tackle all of those projects, both large and small, that I had to put off until school started. So, why haven't I jumped in with both feet? Who really knows for sure why so many moms find ourselves spinning in circles, feeling like we aren't gaining any ground. But here are some thoughts about what happens to me, maybe you will find one or two that hit close to home:
· Thinking about ...
Survive the Seven Perils of the Amazon
Visit Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes & Other Riches at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science
I am so excited to have the opportunity to check out the newest exhibit to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science "Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes & Other Riches" tonight. I am a bit of a museum junkie. I love going and getting lost in other lands and other times. I can wander around for hours by myself, not that I have the opportunity to do so as a mom of three, but I still dream about it. My museum trips these days usually consist of talking about dinosaurs and planets ...

The Thrill of the Hunt:
True confessions of a thrit-store addict
I will admit it: I am a thrift-store junkie. And ever since the advent of Craig’s List, it’s gotten even worse. There was the vintage leather briefcase I scored for $2.99. And the silver plated serving spoons for a buck.
The cloisonné bracelet, the WWII-era wool dress coat, countless paperbacks for
40 cents a pop...the list goes on! Oh, and I can’t forget the $250 sewing
machine I netted for $50, new and unopened!
Early in my thrift store hunting career, for every great coup ...
