Halloween Safety Tips


Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure that shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with flame.

Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and Trick-or-Treat bags for greater visibility.

Because masks can limit or block eyesight, consider non-toxic makeup and decorative hats as safer alternatives.  Hats should fit properly to prevent them from sliding over eyes.

When shopping for costumes, wigs and accessories look for and purchase those with a label clearly indicating they are flame resistant.

Halloween is finally here.  It is a wonderful time of year when the kids are full of excitement.  The excitement can be contagious.  The costumes, the candy, and the pumpkin carving.  Who doesn't love all of the fun?  This weeks newsletter is full of Halloween fun, I am sure that you will find something to keep your weekend full of fun!

Monster Apple Bites


Monster Apple Bites:

Makes 4

Ingredients:

1 apple of your choice, cut into quarters and seeds removed

peanut butter, or cream cheese flavored w/ honey or jam

slivered almonds, candy corn or white chocolate chips for fangs

 1.  Cut each apple quarter in half lengthwise.  Using a pairing knife, make angled cuts on one edge to make "teeth".  Repeat on each piece.

 2.  Spread peanut butter or cream cheese on "teeth" side of apple slices.  Stick two together to make a Monster Mouth.  Using almonds, candy corn or chocolate chips ...

Go Trick or Treating at the Colorado Railroad Museum in the Halloween Town – the safe place to enjoy Halloween. Catch a ride behind the historic locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume. The Trick or Treat Train departs every 20 minutes between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Visit the Town’s special stops to fill your treat bag and tickle your funny bones. Saturday, October 30 - Kid Yoga

Yoga is beneficial for everyone and can be used to help improve all elements of life.  By the age of 4 or 5 when true independence sinks in, kids can identify how yoga is benefiting them and take their practice off the mat, back into their homes and schools.  Kid Yoga is a dynamic class where children learn yoga poses, apply those poses to games and activities, as well as work with the breath.  In 60 minutes, kids will run the spectrum of energy from fast pace games to relaxing stillness and everywhere in between.  These classes are drop off, but parents are welcome to stay if they want to check it out (but parents must play if they stay!)

This multimedia extravaganza is a show unlike any other.  Cavalia celebrates the bond between humans and horses, virtually reinventing the equestrian arts. Stortimes Around Town


Storytimes are designed for specific age groups. Please bring your child to the appropriate one.  Baby Time is for babies up to 2 years, unless otherwise specified.  Toddlers are 2-3 years old.  Preschoolers are 4-6 years old.  Family Nights are for all ages.  Children under 4 years must be accompanied by an adult during all storytimes.
