Between my husband and I, we take our fair share of prescription medications. I won’t bore you with those details, but with the rising costs of co-pays, our out-of-pocket expenses are getting a bit out-of-hand! We have had to do our fair share of Family Fun cut-backs in order to keep our health care budgets in line…and that’s no fun indeed.

When Macaroni Kid introduced me to OneRX, I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. But I was more than willing to give it a try. We really need to start saving money in this area of our budget.

After playing around with the app for a bit, I realized how handy this tool really is. I also realized how blindly I’ve been managing my own health care, especially when it comes to our prescriptions.

As I began to dig deeper into my research, the light switch flipped on for me. I rarely buy anything without searching for a coupon code first. I mean, how many times have you been in line at Michael’s frantically searching for that coupon before it’s your turn in line? Or, before clicking “confirm” for your online purchase, are you using another browser to search for a coupon code in hopes of saving another dollar or two? I asked myself, "Why am I not doing this for my prescriptions?" Well, the answer is clear…because I didn’t know they were available to me.

Until now.

OneRX makes it simple for me to not only to find discounts for the prescriptions we use every day, but for me to shop around and locate the pharmacy with the best prices. Yep, even though many of us have co-pays, we might still be paying too much at the pharmacy we normally use. OneRX helps us with that too.

Simple to Use, Simple to Save

After downloading the OneRX app ioS or Android, the first thing you want to do is load your insurance information. Super simple! Just take a quick photo of the front and back of your insurance card and the app securely processes and verifies your information. No insurance, no problem, the app will still be very helpful to you because it locates the best prices and discounts available.

Now that you are all set up in the system, let’s say you are at your doctor’s office. OneRX helps you manage all of your prescriptions in one location on your smart phone. Now you can discuss with your health care provider all the medications you are taking, the dosages and if generics are available and a good option for you.

What if a drug requires prior authorization to be filled? OneRX will notify you on the spot. By using the app while at the doctors office, you have saved yourself a lot of time. You can even search for the pharmacy with the best price before having the doctor call in a prescription. Basically, OneRX helps put you in control over the prescriptions you are taking.

Want to check prescriptions you are already taking? You can easily search for medications using the app. The app will tell you where to find the best price before you head out to get that prescription filled. It will even tell you if there are additional discounts available.

What, additional discounts? Yes, there are many prescriptions on the market that offer manufacturer coupons, and many of us do not take advantage of these discounts because we do not know they exist. OneRX makes it easy for us to find the discounts and take advantage of the savings.

By using OneRX, I found that the migraine medicine I take has a coupon that could potentially save me $20 a month. I need to sign up with the manufacturer to get started, but once I do, I could be saving over $240 a year. That’s a whole lot of Family Fun we could be putting back into our pockets! Something I never knew existed before OneRX.

I hope you can find some savings with OneRX too. Try it out and see!
