My mom always said..."don't play with your food!" and I agree, but sometimes, we need to break the rules and have a little fun with our meals. And with my picky little eater, it's always good to mix things up a bit and get a little creative. I'm always searching for ways to get her to eat more nutritious meals. Here is one fun idea, perfect for the winter season.

Build your own snowman lunch! Super easy, so fun, and healthy too!

All you need is a quesadilla or a sandwich, cut into different size circles; jars, mugs and cups worked perfectly to cut our quesadilla. Then you'll need assorted finger foods to create the snowman. Some examples are as follows, but you could use just about anything and let your child's imagination work it's magic!
  • Baby carrots cut diagonally for the nose
  • Raisins for the eyes and buttons
  • Pretzel sticks for the arms
  • Almonds for buttons
  • Apple or orange slices for a hat.
Put them all in little bowls and let your child build her own wintertime friend. She can eat and recreate over and over.

She had so much fun creating, lunch lasted a bit longer than usual. She went through the finger foods rather quickly, but once they were gone, she had no other choice than to finish off her snowman.

So go ahead, I give you permission, play with your food! Create a healthy snowman and enjoy!
