A Book for Mature Audiences
Rebel follows the story of Rubi and Wes who were introduced in Skye Jordan's first book of the Renegades series. It can be read as a standalone but the characters continue through the series.
Rubi is super smart, successful, and fiercely independent. Rubi also has severe abandonment issues stemming from a harsh and distant father who has never showed her an of love let alone what a normal relationship looks like.
Wes is a crazy handsome stuntman, with an engineering degree and heart of gold. Wes comes from your typical all America family including a injured war hero brother is trying to help regain his full mobility.
Rubi and Wes have become friends, close friends, almost best friends. The chemistry between them has continued to grow and Wes is ready to take their relationship to the next level but Rubi doesn't do relationships. Rubi does one night stands, no attachments. When Wes tells her he is willing to take anything she can give, even if it is only a friends with benefits relationship, can she handle it? Can he really handle it? There hot and steamy relationship starts to make the turn from friends with benefits to a full blown relationship but can Rubi move past her issues and actually be the girl of his dreams?
This was a great book where instead of the good girl and bad boy you had the sweet guy and naughty girl. It was great to read a book where a man puts his feelings out there and isn't afraid of love. Skye Jordan brought the heat to Rubi and Wes's relationship, at times leaving your breathless. She did a great job of keeping the story moving and still allowing you to connect to the characters. I love a series that you can follow along with the characters from past books while diving in to a whole new story. I will be waiting impatiently for the next book of the Renegade series.
I was provided an ARC of this book by NetGalley and Skye Jordan in exchange for my honest review.
