Are you a HIPPY family?

HIPPY, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngster, is an evidence home visitation program that supports parents in being actively involved in their three, four and five-year-old children's learning. Parents and children work together for fifteen-twenty minutes a day with storybooks, puzzles and learning games that help children become successful learners at school.

The HIPPY program builds on the bond between parents and children. HIPPY believes parents play a critical role in their children's education. HIPPY offers support that builds upon parental strengths so parents can provide their children with necessary skills and confidence to begin school ready to succeed.

The HIPPY curriculum, available in English and Spanish, promotes interactions between children and their parents with an emphasis in supporting early literacy development. Created based on the common core standards, HIPPY partners with parents and the understanding of the crucial role they have in their child’s learning. The HIPPY Curriculum contains 30 weekly activity packets, nine storybooks and a set of 20 manipulative shapes for each year. In addition to these basic materials, supplies such as scissors, pencils, glue and crayons are provided for each participating family.

Jeffco HIPPY is offered at no cost to families living within the attendance area of 30 elementary schools within Jefferson County Public Schools. Trained home visitors visit families weekly for thirty weeks to role play the curriculum with parents. Throughout the week parents spend 15-20 daily working on activities with their child. In addition to the weekly home visits, monthly enrichment meetings are provided to further support families in their work to prepare their children for school.

Enrollment is now open for families living within specific school attendance areas. Call or email to find out if you live within our service area.

We look forward to hearing from you!
