Imagine a 6th–12th grade school whose endgame is not a letter grade or trophy. Imagine a school program mostly comprised of large-scale, highly collaborative pursuits that will genuinely matter to the students, and where the young people are in the driver’s seat. Threshold’s unique environment reaches outside the boundaries of what a conventional education offers. Forget semesters. Throw away tests. Threshold School is re-imagining education.

Threshold is an independent (private) school. It will open in Centennial, CO, in August 2015, and is currently enrolling 6th and 7th graders for its inaugural year.

Threshold School will be a groundbreaking, project-based 6th-12th grade school. Whether students are restoring wildlife habitats, travel to India to study community needs, or producing feature films, they will use real tools and real materials in authentic conditions. Threshold will invite its students to reach for the stars...And the learning will follow. Click here for more Program Highlights.

Threshold students will hone a variety of skills, from problem-solving to leadership, while identifying current global issues such as power generation, water resources, climate change, population growth, international affairs, and economic concerns. They will also utilize a range of techniques while formulating solutions, including design and engineering, rapid prototyping and ideation, tinkering and making, analysis and improvisation.

Threshold's express aim is to facilitate thought leaders and world changemakers, preparing its students to confront the big issues of this century. Beyond college readiness, Threshold will also give its graduates a distinct edge in the job marketplace.

Threshold offers a unique social environment that sets it apart from conventional education. The School will not run like a bus ride, where circumstances throw young people together at random for a few years on his or her own separate academic destination. The intent is to have the students be The Musketeers: "all for one, one for all" and fundamentally invested in each other's growth and wellbeing. For more on this, see here
