Jefferson County Public Library Summer Reading Program

By Jefferson County Public Library May 21, 2015
The Jefferson County Public Library will kick off their summer reading program on Friday, May 29 with a Celebrity Read-a-thon at the Jefferson County Administration Building, 100 Jefferson Parkway, in Golden. You're invited to attend to help kick off the 1,000,001-minute Summer Reading Challenge and win prizes!

Local celebrities -- including congressmen, county commissioners, mayors, chamber of commerce directors, educators, sports figures and media personalities -- will participate in the read-a-thon to share excerpts from their favorite books and invite Jeffco residents to take part in the 1,000,001-minute Summer Reading Challenge. Kids, teens and adults can mingle with local celebrities, take "selfies" with literary characters, attend Library storytimes, sign up for our Summer Reading Challenge and receive prizes. They will have ASL interpreters available at the event, and they have even arranged to have some food trucks at the event so you can enjoy the event and a quick meal!

The 1,000,001-minute Summer Reading Challenge will continue from May 29 through August 14. Participants who sign up and log their reading minutes on jeffcolibrary.org can win prizes throughout the summer and will be entered into a grand prize drawing to win a Leapfrog tablet (for one lucky pre-reader) or a Kindle Fire HD (for one lucky child, teen and adult).

Online sign-ups for the Summer Reading challenge begin May 29. You can sign up to be reminded here and continue to visit jeffcolibrary.org for more information.
