Here is what I like to stock my car with in the winter:
- Snow and ice scraper (although mine never leaves my car!)
- Windshield wiper fluid
- A compact shovel
- Chains (if you don't have snow tires or four wheel drive)
- Cell phone and charger
- Keep the tank at least 1/4 to 1/2 full.
- Emergency car kit, filled with all sorts of emergency essentials, I got mine from my Insurance Agent, but you can find kits like this at Target, Walmart or Amazon (includes a flashlight, flares, emergency reflective triangle, multi tool, bungee cords, duct tape... pretty much everything you could ever need)
- Gloves or mittens for everyone in the family
- Hats and scarves
- Blankets
- Hand warmers
- First aid kit
- Snacks: energy bars, nuts, crackers or cheerios. Candy and gum are good too!
- Water or Juice pouches (they can thaw more quickly than a water bottle if frozen, or opened to eat like a slushie if absolutely necessary)
- Books and travel games
- And always remember to travel with favorite stuffies and blankies!
