It's over. The annual haul. Candy. Everywhere.
My child is actually very moderate in his candy consumption. Me, on the other hand? I have to disguise it so that I can't see it. This year I wanted to get a little more creative, so I came up with this idea to deal with the excess and decorate for Thanksgiving to boot!
Countdown to Thanksgiving
What You Need
- Candy
- Paper cups (However many you need to get to Thanksgiving. Make sure that your candy fits inside the cups.)
- Crepe paper or tissue paper in fall colors
- Glue
- Marking pen or number stickers
- Small pieces of foam for turkey
What You Do
This is super simple!
- Put a piece of candy in the cup.
- Cut the tissue paper into a square big enough to cover the cup.
- Glue around the rim of the cup and adhere the paper.
- Let dry and carefully write numbers on with a marker or use stickers.
- Each day, "break into" the cup by puncturing the tissue paper and then savor the treat.
You can make Thanksgiving Day into a turkey by adding a foam face, hat, tail, and wattle using craft sticks, crepe paper or foam. "Use what you have to make what you need" is my motto.
I displayed them as a centerpiece on a cake stand!
