Colorado Renaissance Festival Survival Tips for the Whole Family! 👑👑

By Alex Garrison | Macaroni Kid Lakewood-Littleton Assistant Publisher July 13, 2018

Need something fun to do this weekend? Take a trip with your family to the 2018 Colorado Renaissance Festival!

Here are some tips and information on the festival in order to make your visit more enjoyable for the whole family.

 ALEX'S TIPS (FROM EXPERIENCE!)

1. Arrive Early (approx. 30 minutes before opening):

  • The earlier you arrive, the better parking spot.
  • If you need to purchase tickets at the gates, arriving early will be key. The box office lines can sometimes be brutal.
  • The earlier you arrive, the better jump you get once the gates open.

 2. Know What You Want to See Before Entry:

  • Take a look at the map and have an idea of what you want to see and do and where it is inside.
  • This will save you time and prevent a lot of stress later on.

3. Bring Lots of Water:

  • It is super important that you stay hydrated! The festival is outside and it will be very hot.
  • You CAN bring in sealed water bottles.
  • The water sold inside is expensive. Bringing in as many waters as you can will save you a lot of money that could be spent on other things once inside.

 4. Make Your Desired Purchases Early On:

  • Yes, this does mean you will be carrying around your purchases all day long, but this will save you a lot of time later.
  • The longer you wait to make purchases, the longer the lines will be.
  • Some stuff will sell out. In order to make sure you get what you want, make your purchases as soon as possible.

5. Catch the Early Shows:

  • Catch as many shows as you can early on during the day. The longer you wait during the day to see a show, the more crowded it will get.
  • You want to be able to enjoy the show without having to fight for a seat or a place to see. The earlier the show, the better chance you have of getting a great seat!
  • Shows that you MUST SEE early on: the Washing Well Wenches, The Acrobatrix, etc.

6. Wear Comfy Shoes:

  • The shoes you wear is very important as you will be walking all day.
  • There are many hills that you will have to walk up and down once inside. Wear shoes that won't give you blisters and that will help support you all day long.

7. (Most Importantly...) Embrace It!:

  • The Renaissance Festival is an event that encourages costumes of all sorts. Don't be afraid to dress up!
  • Most of the people at the festival will be dressed up. Embrace it and enjoy the unique and sometimes weird costumes!
