Ahhhhhh, summer. The season that is SUPPOSED to be relaxing but instead is pretty darn hectic. Kids are home from school, schedules are alllll kinds of crazy, and I end up more exhausted than I am during the school year! This mama needed a break!
As luck would have it, I was invited to head to Cancun with 49 of my fellow Mac Kid publishers to check out the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun. Like most moms, I don't get to travel very often by myself, so I was pretty excited to take on this adventure! I had no idea that I would find the PERFECT vacation spot for literally everyone... family vacations, girls' trips, romantic trips with your significant other... Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun is ideal for every type of vacation you are looking to plan.
MY FAVORITE THINGS
The Food
Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun has FIVE gourmet restaurants to delight even the pickiest eaters. I'm no foodie, but I do love me some food. I'm pretty sure that I left Mexico with a food baby and I was completely okay with that. I could spend a serious amount of time just looking at the food displays -- they were beautiful. I gotta tell you, the best thing about an all-inclusive resort for me is the fact the food is included. I could imagine being that awesome mom who lets her kids have the fancy frozen drinks and two desserts. It is unbelievably relaxing not to have to worry about how much each meal will cost or whether your 3 year old is going to eat anything besides a hotdog bun when you've paid $10 for her meal. The fact that the food was beyond amazing was a bonus!
I can't mention the food without talking about Le Chique, voted the #1 restaurant in Mexico by Travel + Leisure's Best of the Best Gourmet Awards. Fourteen courses of exotic and amazing food, paired perfectly with a variety of wines, made for a memorable and exquisite night. Although it's not one of the all-inclusive dining options, I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Potentially the most romantic date night EVERRRRR.
Oh, and did I mention that there are eight all-inclusive bars on the property to cover all of your cocktail, beer, and wine desires? Oh yeah, baby. Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun has it all.
Family Friendly Amenities
You guys. This is the easiest vacation you will ever take with your kids, from toddlers to teens. You know how you typically have to pack a million things for your younglings? You don't have to bring a thing when you visit the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun. Strollers, cribs, pack n plays, toys, and even organic baby food are all provided for families with little ones. Azulitos, the resort's littlest guests, are entertained with their own pool area, lounge chairs that are just their size, a playhouse complete with supervision and My Gym equipment, a playground on the beach, and too many classes and activities to squeeze into your stay. Teens get the red carpet treatment, too, when they check out the Teen Breeze Lounge. Plenty of indoor activities await, like gaming consoles, movies, billiards, and air hockey. Teens who prefer to get outside can enjoy organized activities like rock climbing and volleyball. I guarantee your kids will stay happy and busy during their time at Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun, and Mom and Dad can squeeze in some alone time, too!
The Beach
I could see the beach from my balcony. It was probably 50 steps from my room. The beach is my fave of the favorites. It was gorgeous. The sound of the ocean... I mean, c'mon. There was a beach BBQ every day, and some sort of beach event every evening (I loved the Glow Party the best!). But, do you want to know what put it over the top at Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun? The cabanas. Oh. My. Word. I took a little time one afternoon and hung out with a drink and my book in one of those cabanas, and it was heaven. I read, I fell asleep, I listened to the ocean, I watched the waves. I would go back just for that.
The Pools
Guests can enjoy six pools at Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun. I'll be honest, I ended up spending most of my pool time at the adults only pool. I mean, there were cabanas, and this mama loves a cabana! And a swim up bar... need I say more? But, the other pools were just as awesome, with fabulous views, plenty of chairs to lounge in, and the best staff to guest ratio in the industry at 2:1. Seriously, the staff was THE best that I have ever encountered. Anywhere.
Here's what I really loved about the pools. Yes, there were six pools. And yes, they were huge and beautiful. But they were all within a short walk of each other, just like everything else at the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun. You felt like you were at a ginormous resort, but everything there was easily walkable. It was wonderfully laid out and I am positive that it was appreciated by everyone there!
The Rooms
Oh. Em. Gee. The rooms. Picture the most relaxing, luxurious, and tropical place you can think of. Stick a jetted tub right in the room by the picturesque window, with champagne at the ready. That might begin to describe the rooms they offer at the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun. Have you ever been somewhere spectacular but your room was so amazing that you almost didn't want to ever leave it? Yeah, that.
And, you guys, room service is included and it's delicious.
Still not convinced that Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun is the perfect vacation destination?
- There are nonstop flights from Denver International Airport to Cancun and they are only about 3 hours long.
- This truly was a relaxing vacation. I did not need the "vacation after the vacation" that we often need!
- Even though the resort was sold out while we were there, I never felt like it was crowded or that there were more guests than the staff could easily handle.
- There is a Mojito Bar.
- Although I didn't get a chance to check them out myself, many of my fellow publishers raved about the onsite spa! Noted for next time, for sure.
- The Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun is only about 20 minutes from the Cancun Airport, yet is completely secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- There are plenty of activities and excursions available for adults and families... and there are plenty of concierges to help you get them set up.
- Each building has a concierge who is excited to help in any way they can. I'll just let that sink in for a minute.
