FREE FUN: Colorado Window Art Encourages Families to Create and Share

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni Kid Lakewood-Littleton Editor and Publisher April 3, 2020

Raise your hand if your family could use some outside interaction after several weeks of social distancing!

Raise your hand if you or your kids need some creative downtime in between all the remote learning!

Raise your hand if you could all use something to brighten your day!

I'm right there with you.

Virtual games and field trips are great, but we were craving some real interaction to brighten our day... a place that we could share some of the fun things we have been doing while social distancing, AND where others could share with us. I couldn't find anything, so I decided to create my own space, and start an art movement!

I started the Colorado Window Art group on Facebook to give Coloradans a reason to create, and look for, art in their neighborhoods. What started out as literal window art has now evolved into whatever kind of art the group members -- both adults and kids -- have created. Paintings, drawings, chalk art, photographs... you name it! And I could not be more thrilled.

However, despite the change in description and purpose, the name, Colorado Window Art, remains. You know why? Because right now, we may not be able to enjoy each other's art in person, but we can certainly enjoy it through a virtual (or literal!) window.

So go ahead....

  • Create some art, whatever kind of art you like!
  • Hang it up in your window, if possible, where your neighbors can see it. Make their day wile they are social distance walking.
  • Most importantly, share it in the Colorado Window Art group, for everyone to enjoy! Who knows? Maybe your artwork will inspire others to create and post.
  • Be sure to scroll down in the group and check out other's artwork!

I hope you will join us!
