Jump Start Your Holidays with Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

My family adores a movie night. We generally try to do them a few times a month, but we've upped our game to every weekend during the Pandemic. We've completed a few series since March, like Harry Potter and Star Wars (my first time seeing both, if you can believe that!), but with the holidays right around the corner, I decided to get my family in the festive mood with a brand new Christmas musical called Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, available on Netflix

Now, you may not know this about me, but I loooove me a musical. Like, LOVE love. There is only one musical that, after watching it, I didn't immediately become obsessed with and play the music to death. If you must know, it was Cats. I can't stand it. I know, I know.

Interesting sidenote... my oldest HATES a musical. It kills me a little. I'm honestly not sure if it's just in his DNA or if I ruined him with my obsessions. But I digress...

When I heard that there was a new musical coming out, especially one that I could watch with the fam (well, except said oldest), I was all in. Watching the trailer sealed the deal.

Historical costumes? Check.

Visually stunning? Check.

Amazing music? Check.

Feel good story line? Check.

You guys. I loved it. It made my whole family laugh, tear up, and get that goofy smile that you can't wipe off your face because it's so darn heartwarming. There were surprises, mysteries to solve, adventures, flashes of suspense, and powerful, beautiful moments.  It was absolutely appropriate for my 10 year old, but entertaining enough for my 15 year old. And it definitely jump started our Christmas. Now, where's that tree?

FROM NETFLIX:

A musical adventure and a visual spectacle for the ages, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a wholly fresh and spirited family holiday event. Set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton, the film follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker) whose fanciful inventions burst with whimsy and wonder. But when his trusted apprentice (Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key) steals his most prized creation, it’s up to his equally bright and inventive granddaughter (newcomer Madalen Mills) — and a long-forgotten invention — to heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within. From the imagination of writer-director David E. Talbert, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey reminds us of the strength of family and the power of possibility.  Featuring original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan, and "This Day" performed by Usher and Kiana Ledé.

NOTE: I did not receive any compensation for this review. We just REALLY loved the movie!
