Hey Mac Families!
I have to preface this with a statement:
I love my children very, very much. I swear.
Have you ever done something that makes you question yourself? As in, how do you actually survive life when you are capable of doing things like this?
Most parents have have suffered from "mommy brain" or "daddy brain" at some point in their lives.... probably multiple times. Let's face it, our kids often suck our brain power for their own use or they drain it with their incessant questions, bickering, and the fact that they require feeding everyday. We are also tired. Very, very tired.
I used to think that it would get better as my kids got older. It did not. I'm still tired. Granted, it's a different kind of tired, but it's tired nonetheless.
(I know I will miss this someday. I try to remember this on days like today.)
So, today I was getting ready to go pick up my youngest at school. I set out a few things by the front door, as one does, so I wouldn't forget anything. You know... my purse, my keys, my sunglasses, a walnut (I had been snacking on them and had one left).
I headed out the door and grabbed my three standard things. Except when I shut the front door, I realized that I had in my hands the purse, the sunglasses, aaaaaaaaand THE WALNUT.
No keys.
You guys, I grabbed a walnut instead of my keys.
A walnut was not going to start my car. I had to call my 15 year old daughter and have her run home to let me back in. She and her friends really had a field day with that one. My mother-in-law could not get over how I had "grabbed my nuts" instead of my keys. I posted about my walnut incident on Facebook, expecting my friends to sympathize with me (I mean, stuff like this happens to everyone, right? Oh, it's just me? Okay. Got it.) and instead, they posted those GIFs that are a nice way of saying "ooooooooookayyyyyy". I got a few pity comments. I'll take 'em.
Mommy Brain at its finest. Or worst. I'm not sure.
I got a lot of "HOW's???".
I got nothin'.
All I know is that it was not my most shining moment. But, I'll never forget it. And I'll for sure laugh about it someday.
Make me feel better and share YOUR Mommy Brain or Daddy Brain moments! Maybe I'll write a story all about them.
Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
Christen
