A Note From Your Publisher: The one about head shakers 📝

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton & Macaroni KID Denver Editor and Publisher April 2, 2022

Hey Mac Families!

Sometimes I am literally shocked by the decisions people make in life. Not the important, major life decisions kind of things, but random things that just make me shake my head.

The head shaking happened a lot this week. You know that I love a list, so I figured I'd write one of all of my recent head shakers.

  • I ordered a ton of pet supplies from Chewy for my cats and lizard, including 40 pounds of sand and basking lightbulbs. Chewy sent it all in one box. I don't think I need to explain what happened, but I will say that they will be sending a new set of bulbs at no charge. (Don't get me wrong, though... I love Chewy!)
  • Remember that day that it rained all afternoon and evening? My daughter had two lacrosse games and they played through, sopping wet and unable to see the ball, while a bunch of sopping wet parents sat on the sidelines. (I'm still cold.)
  • I searched for over 20 minutes for the lacrosse field at a school in Castle Rock, and when I finally found it, there was no parking to be found. Who designed this ridiculous layout, and why no gosh darn signs?
  • I bought a book at Target, and the cashier told me that she loved the ending. And then she proceeded to tell me said ending. Ummmm.....
  • On my latest grocery pick up order, they substituted cheese for chicken. Cheese. For chicken.
  • Our copay on a generic inhaler is $212. It is $0 on the brand name. However, the brand name was not approved while the generic one was. What the?
  • In second period, one of my youngest's teacher told him that he was failing and he would not be able to move on to the next grade. In 7th period, he finally found out that it was an April Fools' joke. Poor kid was panicked all day long. Who does that?
  • The lady sitting in front of me at Tootsie had a gigantic bun on the top of her head. Like, gigantic. PSA - Don't do that.
  • I stood in a check out line that was 20 people deep because A) they had one check out lane open, and B) all of the employees were meeting right behind the cash registers.

This is really just a sampling of the strange things going on around me these days. It does seem like these kinds of head shakers are happening more frequently. Maybe I'm a magnet for odd situations. Maybe I am just noticing them more. Whatever the reason is, I'm good, Strange. You can just chill out for a bit.

I want to hear your head shakers! Email me!

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
