A Note From Your Publisher: The one about party struggles 📝

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton & Macaroni KID Denver Editor and Publisher June 4, 2022

Hey Mac Families,

I have thrown A LOT of birthday parties. Big ones, small ones, themed ones, sleepovers, on locations, hotel stays, mini vacations... and everything in between.

Let's be real... birthday parties inevitably start with a whole lot of stress. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for the person in charge. The hope is that, despite the stress cloud that hovers above, the birthday kid experiences only the fun parts and has an awesome time.

I can look back now and laugh at the weird stuff that has happened at our parties, but at the time, they almost put me over the edge.

One time, at a birthday party....

  • An elderly guest busted through our sliding screen door and fell flat on our deck.
  • It snowed in May on the party day. And the party was supposed to be outside.
  • I set the leftover cake on top of the car and promptly drove away, losing said cake violently as we rounded a curve, much to the horror of the birthday girl.
  • My hubs took a very large nerf dart to the... ahem... "boys".
  • A fight broke out between two 9 year girls... thankfully, it was not my kid, and it did not get physical.
  • We had to organize a parade instead of a party because of a pandemic.
  • My kid requested only frosting instead of a cake... I obliged, but didn't really think of the other kids attending who might not go for that. Whoops.
  • A guest sprained an ankle whilst roller skating at my kid's party.
  • My kid fell in the creek at his brother's 1st birthday party.

I hope that our Birthday Guide helps you throw a stress free party, whatever that party might look like. Plus, sign up for our Birthday Kids Club and impress your kids with a birthday shout out that will make them famous. At least in your family. AND... sign up for our adult birthday club! We have some pretty sweet things in the works for that one.

Happy Birthday to you and yours, whenever that might be!

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
