A Note From Your Publisher: The one about pet insurance 📝

Hey Mac Families,

I currently have the most expensive hair tie ever created sitting in a container in my bathroom.

This hair tie is worth hundreds of dollars.

Why on earth would I buy a hair tie that was worth hundreds of dollars, you ask? Let me tell you.

You see, this hair was worth maybe 50 cents about two weeks ago. That was before my cat ate it.

Finn loves string. Any kind of string will do but the skinniest ribbon is his fave. We don't keep much string in the house because of this. Apparently Finn got a hankering for some string, and figured that the random hair tie that he found would be a good substitute. I have seen him play with hair ties before, but as far as I know, he doesn't typically eat them. (Or maybe he does, and that explains why I can never find a hair tie when I need one.)

Well, he chewed this one for a bit, and then promptly swallowed it on the sly. He wouldn't eat, drink, or use the litter box, and he threw up more times than we could count. To the vet!

Bloodwork was normal. No blockage felt. Some fluids and anti nausea meds were supposed to do the trick. They did not. Back to the vet!

X-rays revealed something foreign in there, but thankfully it had made its way through the intestines so no surgery. A couple of visits, and a couple of enemas, later.... and I discovered the culprit. I will spare you the details of how I figured it out. (The things we do, man.)

So why am I telling you this?

Well, despite the fact that my vet is very conscious of unnecessary procedures and unnecessary spending, the multiple visits, tests, and treatments added up quickly. I really wish I would have had pet insurance. I thought about getting it from time to time but I always put it off. Now I am kicking myself.

I have zero advice on which pet insurance is best, or the amount of insurance you need. But I do know this... you should get it. You never know when your cat is going to turn a 50 cent hair tie into one worth hundreds of dollars. Just sayin.

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
