A Note From Your Publisher: The one about baseball 📝

Hey Mac Families,

My youngest kid got COVIDed out of sports.

You know those few years when your kid tries out all the sports to see what they might be interested in, or what talents they have? My kid didn't get that because most sports were shut down.

So, when things opened back up, and his middle school offered after school sports right on site, we jumped at the chance to try all the sports. We luckily fell in with a local rec coach, who is absolutely AMAZING, and my kid joined up with all of Coach Joey's teams for the year. He tried volleyball, basketball, flag football, and is now on a baseball team.

My youngest excelled in basketball, so I was pretty convinced that basketball would be his sport. It's fun, it's inside, it's popular with student spectators.

That was until I watched him take the mound as the starting pitcher in his first baseball game since he played one summer as a six year old. I hadn't been to his practices, so this was the first time that I watched him play.

Uhhhhhhh, he could throw. He was a natural. He throws the ball so fast that kids are afraid to go up to the plate. He knocked his catcher backward with just the power of the ball.

Okay, can he catch? Yeah, he can catch.

But can he hit? Yup, he can hit, too.

HOW DID WE NOT KNOW THAT HE HAD THIS HIDDEN TALENT FOR BASEBALL?

My dad, a lifelong baseball fan, born and bred to love the New York Yankees, is thrilled.

My son, always wanting his Papa to be excited about his activities, is over the moon.

(My daughter is bored out of her mind watching the games.)

I am having a blast watching him do something that he loves, and that he is good at... tonight, he struck out multiple batters, had a couple of pretty sweet plays that took out runners, and hit a homerun that brought enough of his teammates across home plate to win the game.

All I can say is thank goodness basketball and baseball are during different seasons.

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,

Christen
