A Note From Your Publisher: The one about college graduation 📝

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton & Macaroni KID Denver Editor and Publisher May 3, 2024

Hey Mac Families,

My oldest is graduating from college today!

Yes, I said college. It's hard to believe, and yet so perfectly perfect, all at the same time.

All those people that say it goes fast? They are not lying. It may seem like the daily grind of parenthood is quite possibly THE SLOWEST measure of time on the planet, but all of the sudden you are getting ready to college graduation, followed by your oldest's 23rd birthday. And you wonder how the heck we all got here.

If you have been around awhile, you know I love a list. And it has been a hot minute since I wrote one. So, I thought I would share my favorite thing about each stage of parenting.... so far.

NEWBORNS

The cuddles, of course.

BABIES

Belly laughs. Definitely belly laughs.

TODDLERS

The intentional hugs.

PRESCHOOLERS

It may be hard to believe, but their little bouts of stubborn independence was the best. Did it also drive me bananas? Yes.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLERS

Their endless wonder at the great big world.

MIDDLE SCHOOLERS

Their humor.

HIGH SCHOOLERS

The connection that you have with them. And the secret lunches.

COLLEGE KIDS (BABY ADULTS, AS I LOVINGLY CALL THEM)

The way they still need your help navigating the world, but how they are also taking charge. It's so cool how both things are happening at the same time.

Whether you have little humans or big humans in your life, those stages all go fast. What have been your favorite parts so far?

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,

Christen
