What to Bring
Water and walking shoes. Grab your binoculars, camera, or any other birding gear if you have it!
Accessibility
The Canal trail is flat crushed gravel or concrete. We will be walking around 2 miles or less with frequent stopping to stand still. There are occasional benches in some areas, but many areas do not have frequent benches. All locations have access to toilets at the trailhead, but some toilets are portable.
Note
Due to the shy nature of many birds, we ask that you leave your pets at home for this walk. Service animals are always welcome.
You can participate on your own, too! Birding is for everyone, everywhere. If you can’t join us check out this eBird article on how you can participate from wherever you are.
Local birdwatching can be a memorable way for families to connect with their community and nature simultaneously. These guided experiences often provide deeper insight into bird behaviors and ecosystems, making the Global Big Day not just a day of observation but one of learning and appreciation for the world's feathered inhabitants.
