Turn science into a work of art!
The Jefferson County Regional Crime Laboratory (JCRCL) is seeking science-inspired art pieces that will be displayed in the hallways of the crime lab.
Jefferson County high school students and college students are invited to submit their artwork for an opportunity to win a display spot in the crime lab and a behind-the-scenes tour of the lab, along with other prizes.
The JCRCL specializes in DNA analysis, firearms examination, drug chemistry, and latent print analysis. However, art pieces can be inspired by any kind of science such as biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, anatomy and physiology, space/astronomy, and geology.
Things to know
Types of art submissions include but are not limited to:
- Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor)
- Drawings (pencil, charcoal, etc.)
- Photography
- Computer-generated art
- Sculpture (clay, wood, metal, etc.)
Three-dimensional art must be no larger than 18" wide x 18" tall x 18" deep and two-dimensional art must be no larger than 18" wide x 24" tall.
Submit your artwork
- Complete this form (you must include a photo of your artwork/rendering with the form)
- Once you have submitted your form and photo, you will be emailed instructions on how to submit the actual piece of art.
- All accepted artwork will be seen by a panel of judges.

About the Jefferson County Crime Lab
The JCRCL provides services to all law enforcement agencies within Jefferson County with an agreement between the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, City of Arvada, City of Golden, City of Lakewood, and City of Wheat Ridge Police departments. It is located at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden, Colorado.
