Rodeo All-Star is excited to bring the first ever Colorado Mutton Bustin’ Championships, presented by Raising Cane’s, to Denver!
This event, the largest of its kind in Colorado, promises to be a standout highlight of the two-day Rodeo All-Star Weekend event.
Register your 5 to 7 year old here!
What is mutton bustin'?
Five to seven-year-olds under 55 pounds ride a sheep out of a chute and into an arena.
How does it work?
- Like professional rodeo events, time and score count.
- Anything goes and usually does, as contestants cling to the back of thickly coated lambs for as long as they can.
- The Mutton Bustin’ Qualifier will take place before the start of each rodeo, with up to 300 kids participating in each event.
- The top 8 scores and 2 lucky numbers from each qualifier will compete in the Championship round during the rodeo.
PLUS... Mutton Busters will be assigned a lucky number at check-in. Two lucky numbers will be drawn after the qualifier to give two mutton busters, who had not already qualified, a spot in the Championship round.

About the Rodeo All-Star (RAS) Weekend
Denver is no stranger to pro sports and all-star games. That is why there was no better host when the first-ever Rodeo All-Star event was created than the National Western Events Center in the Mile High City. Rodeo All-Star Weekend was established in 2013 to highlight the best in pro rodeo – World Champion vs. World Champion. For two days in October, the world’s top-ranked cowboys and cowgirls ride into Denver to compete in three rodeo performances with a chance to win big bucks and be crowned Rodeo All-Star Champions.
Like any all-star celebration, the weekend includes more than just world-class rodeos. The National Western Events Center is adorned with rodeo fanfare with interactive games, mechanical bull riding, behind-the-scenes access, plus special events including a Lunch with Champions and exclusive after-parties.
Fans attending the Friday night rodeo are in for an unforgettable evening with a Chancey Williams concert, presented by Mountain Dew. Saddle Bronc athlete-turned neo-traditional country music sensation Chancey Williams, has gone from competing on horseback to performing on center stage. As one of only two artists (along with Chris LeDoux) to both compete in the rodeo and perform on the main stage at Cheyenne Frontier Days and the only singer/songwriter to be endorsed by CINCH®, Williams is the next authentic cowboy of country music.
The sport of rodeo has been around for over one hundred years. We are proud to celebrate rodeo’s all-stars every October in Denver.
