Beyond the Snowman: 30 Easy and Fun Things to Do in the Snow

You've built the snowman. Now what?

We've got you covered with a list of easy and fun things to keep you busy outside when it's snowy.

  1. Make snow angels.
  2. Bust out the sleds and have races.
  3. Go on a snowy scavenger hunt.
  4. Freeze colored ice cubes and scatter them around the yard (while no one else is looking, of course!) and send everyone off to retrieve them.
  5. Trim your trees with strings of berries and popcorn.
  6. Practice your golf swing with plastic cups buried into the snow.
  7. Play Tug-O-War with a big pile of fluffy snow to fall into.
  8. Tie dye the snow with spray bottles full of watered down food coloring.
  9. Build an igloo.
  10. Build snow furniture.
  11. Do some snow science and find out what things melt snow the fastest (sand, dirt, snow melt).
  12. Create ice bubbles by waving the bubble wand around instead of blowing through it.
  13. Play hide and seek.
  14. Follow the tracks -- human and animals.
  15. Practice hitting a target with snowballs.
  16. Play a round or two of snow bowling.
  17. Build a road and play with toy trucks.
  18. Turn your snowballs into Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads using the body pieces.
  19. Bury glow sticks in the snow (stay shallow!) and check them out once it gets dark.
  20. Create an obstacle course.
  21. Challenge your friends to a game of Tic Tac Snow!
  22. Play snow soccer.
  23. Shovel your neighbor's sidewalk and/or driveway.
  24. Play a few innings of snowball (baseball).
  25. Catch snowflakes on your tongue.
  26. Build a mini snow village.
  27. Challenge your family to a snow sculpture contest.
  28. Take a snow hike. Bonus if you have snowshoes!
  29. Bring a bowl of the snow inside and play in the bathtub.
  30. Create snowpets for those snowmen you built.
