My family loves a good staycation. It is always awesome to take a break from real life, and it's especially nice when you can jump in the car to get there. We stayed at Copper Mountain Resort recently and loved every minute of it. Here's why!

The author received an overnight stay and activities at Copper Mountain Resort to facilitate the writing of this article. All thoughts and opinions expressed are the author's own.

Park your car and never have to get into it again until you leave.

Copper Mountain Resort has everything you will need for your time in the mountains, plus underground (and heated!) parking is included in your reservation. Want to visit The Barn or ski at the East Village? Hop on the convenient free shuttle to hit all of the areas at Copper Mountain Resort.

Rent your equipment onsite and save time and hassle.

We don't have our own skis, for several reasons. The main one is that our vehicles are not equipt to get them up to the mountains. Sure, we could rent them locally, but that doesn't solve our problem of how to transport them. Copper Mountain has equipment rentals right onsite, and makes it super easy to grab your skis and snowboards the night before (our preference), so you don't have to worry about it in the morning and miss out on precious hill time.

Stay at the resort for the easiest access to the mountain and more!

Leaving your room or condo and being steps away to the chair lifts is my FAVORITE thing about Copper Mountain. Plus, there are SO many benefits to being able to pop back into your temporary abode during the day:

  • Let's face it, no one loves to walk around in ski boots, so a short walk to the lift is ideal
  • Grab a snack and/or drink with ease
  • No need for lockers (although they ARE available if needed!)
  • Need a break in the comfort of your own space
  • Kids can nap and get right back on the slopes
  • Easily take advantage of activities, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife when you stay at Copper

Resort guests enjoy lots of discounts.

Stay at Copper Mountain Resort in one of the three villages, and save on so many things, including lift tickets, rental equipment, and lessons! You can reserve your vacation for only $40 down right now... unbelievable, right?

There is so much to do at Copper Mountain Resort in the winter!

There is something that makes us sad when we stay at Copper Mountain Resort... and that is that we can't do ALLLL the things! There is so much to do there besides skiing and snowboarding (although we love that, too, of course).

Snow Maze - FREE!

Created for children over 3 years old and adults, the Copper Mountain Snow Maze is fun for all ages. The best part is that it's free! Complete this unique challenge as a family, or compete to find the Snow Maze Champion in your party.

Green Acres Snow Play and Sledding Zone - FREE!

BYOS! Bring Your Own Sled (or Snowman supplies) and have a snow ball playing in the Copper Mountain fluff (see what I did there?) at the Green Acres Snow Play and Sledding Zone. Our condo came complete with sleds and supplies for this fun fun and free excursion... another bonus for staying onsite at Copper Mountain Resort.

Free Tours

Learn all about Copper Mountain's history, wildlife, geography, and a few fun facts by taking a Free Tour! You can choose to Ski with a Ranger (requires lift ticket), take an On-Mountain Ambassador Tour (requires lift ticket), or experience the winter snow crunching beneath your feet with an Ambassador Snow Shoe Tour (requires snow shoes, rentals available).

Ice Skating (and more!) at West Lake

Skating, broomball, or a game of hockey? All three! Game equipment is available at West Lake, free of charge, and you can rent skates onsite. Prefer to stay on dry land? Roast some marshmallows lakeside at the fire pit.

Rocky Mountain Coaster

5800 feet long (one of the longest in North America) and speeds up to 25 mph. Yes, please! The Rocky Mountain Coaster is a must do for my family. We love the speed, the fact that we can control our own ride, and the views that only the Coaster can provide. Not only can you relax and enjoy the quiet ride to the top, but you are in for a thrill on the descent, whipping around turns at top speeds if that's your jam. It is quite literally, the best of both worlds.

Tubing Hill

Slide, spin, and send it at Copper Mountain’s tubing hill. This family-friendly activity gives your crew a whole new way to play in the snow! Whether you hit the hill before, during, or after your day on the slopes, our course ups the tubing game with banked turns that make it nearly impossible not to beam all the way down. Kick off those ski boots, grab a hot chocolate, sign your waiver, and we’ll be waiting with your ride.

The Barn

The Woodward Copper Barn Copper Mountain Resort's action sports playground. Featuring multiple skate/scooter/bmx zones, indoor ParkSki™ and Burton ParkBoard™ training, springfloor, tumble track, five Olympic-grade flybed trampolines and one 12'x12' Super Trampoline, The Barn has everything you need to practice your moves and have tons of fun in every session. When the winter snow gets deep at Copper, come inside and enjoy an indoor session under the lights in the fully heated Woodward Copper Barn.

Dining

There are at least 15 places to grab a bite to eat at Copper Mountain Resort, and I have never had anything that is less than stellar there. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch, a snack for the kids, or a full blown dinner, Copper Mountain Resort has you covered. You know that we are always on the lookout for gluten free options for my daughter, and there is no shortage of goodies for her to enjoy as well...BONUS POINTS! Our faves are Sugar Lips Mini Donuts, where your minis are cooked to order, complete with fancy topping concoctions, and Downhill Duke's, located conveniently between the American Flyer and American Eagle, and is named after a Copper Mountain legend and avalanche rescue dog hopeful. It's also worth mentioning that they serve the best Cuban around... take my word for it!

Taking a midday break at Downhill Duke's.

You really can't go wrong at Copper Mountain Resort. No matter where you stay onsite, which runs you ski or snowboard, what tasty morsels you choose to eat at the many available dining options, or what activities you partake in while you're there, you are going to have a blast. It is truly one of our favorite places to staycation in all of Colorado.
