Are you all in and up for celebrating with others?

Join your fellow Coloradans at one of the two local watch parties we were able to find.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

In Boettcher Plaza outside the Museum, visitors will experience the eclipse through telescopes and special sun spotter cards. Other events the Museum is hosting outside include making UV bead bracelets, creating artwork with solar reactive paper and participating in other interactive science activities.

Denver Astronomical Society

To accommodate those who would like to see the solar eclipse but won’t be traveling to the path of totality, DAS is planning to hold a special FREE partial solar eclipse observing event at the University of Denver’s historic Chamberlin Observatory on April 8th, weather permitting.

DAS members will have solar telescopes and other equipment on the park lawn for public observation. Bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, and a hat. The partial eclipse begins at 11:28 a.m. MDT; maximum obscuration occurs at 12:40 p.m., and the partial eclipse ends at 1:54 p.m. Arrive early to find a parking place.

Get your eclipse glasses!

I checked with our eye doctor and got the skinny on how to tell if eclipse glasses are legit. Check out the checklist before you use yours!

  • Be sure that the glasses say ISO 12312-2.
  • Be sure that the glasses have the manufacturer AND the manufacturer's address listed on them.
  • Be sure that you test them indoors... you should only be able to see very bright light through them, if anything.
  • Be sure that you test them outdoors... you should only be able to see bright reflections (like off of car mirrors, etc), if anything.

Warby Parker locations are giving out eclipse glasses while supplies last. Find a location here.

It may seem overwhelming and maybe even a bit scary, but participating in a worldwide celebration can become a core memory for your family. Happy Eclipse!

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
